Who knew that pompadour fringe would be praised so much
Last Sunday I attended the 17th anniversary dance banquet of Shofuji Dance School.
The air of the venue was special. I felt the joy of sharing this milestone of a long-running school.
When I saw the costume of Mr. Enomoto, who performed as an amateur demonstrator, I felt the whole hall struck with surprise (laugh). Beyond the striking outfit, what became the talk of the event above all was —

Behind a performance that succeeded perfectly
In the world of dance we often speak of "repetition." By repeating the same movement over and over, the body learns it. The preparation before standing on stage is, in fact, exactly the same.
Mr. Enomoto's flawless performance was the fruit of much repeated practice and the accumulation of each small step. When such effort takes shape, I believe it delivers smiles to everyone in the hall.
And afterwards, we were even able to take a commemorative photo. In that one photo, I feel there was captured both the wish to celebrate the 17th anniversary and the feeling of striving on together.
What made me happiest of all was receiving words of praise from a teacher — the partner of a JCF top dancer.
Words from a teacher active at the front line of the industry were a great encouragement to us.

Even if not perfect, dance with heart
In the world of ballroom dance, an attachment to "being perfect" easily arises. But what truly matters is what you learned in the process of getting there, how much you devised, and how far the heart is expressed.
What I felt anew through this event is how wonderful it is that people advanced in years can dance youthfully, with heart. More than perfect technique, that very attitude moves the hearts of those watching.
Repetition, repetition. Practicing the same thing over and over in lessons can sometimes feel tedious. But beyond it awaits the moment of shining on stage. The smiles everyone showed us —
We want to keep creating an environment where each and every student can face dance at their own pace, with heart. More than perfection, wholeheartedly enjoying that time. Together with all of you.
Last but not least, to Mr. Takashi Shofuji, representative of Shofuji Dance School who hosted this party, and to Ms. Tomoko — heartfelt congratulations on your 17th anniversary. We sincerely wish you ever greater success.
